Building and running a one-hectare aquaponic farm demands skills that no single person can bring together, those of aquaculture, water chemistry, agronomy, fresh produce processing, project management, sales, team management, logistics, press relations and construction supervision.
All of these skills and trades are already present in our project, in the future operating team, in our two boards, technical and strategic, and among the partners supporting its development.
Added to that are different generations, backgrounds and points of view. It is this diversity of people and ideas that makes Aquaponeasy a project apart.

For centuries, people grew their own food, in step with the seasons. That link has almost entirely come undone in our modern societies. Farming has moved away, specialised, spread into monoculture across vast areas, with an impact that has become massive on natural environments as well as on health.
We believe there is a path between the symbolic gesture and industrial excess. A vegetable garden does not feed a city, and a mega-farm has nothing of the farmer left about it, only processes and indicators remain. We have chosen an intermediate scale, farms of one to a few hectares at the gates of cities, large enough to feed a local population, measured enough to stay on a human scale.
At this scale, farming remains a deeply human craft. Knowing your plants and your fish, caring for them every day, is what brings a remarkable product to the plate. We will put technology at the service of that work, never in its place.
In a world where the challenges are piling up and growing more serious, bringing these farms into being is no longer an ambition, it is a necessity.

Feeding your own region well meets an essential need, it is not a trend. Working with us means producing better, closer, with fewer resources, and keeping a direct link with our food. You take part in feeding yourself, the people around you and your region better, in a project committed to the ecological, energy and agricultural transition.
Aquaponics is still little developed, and so are the vocational training courses in the field. You will be among the first to be trained on a large-scale aquaponic farm, from aquaculture to market gardening, including processing and shop sales. You will gain unique know-how, still rare in France.
Market gardening, fish farming, processing, welcoming visitors, shop sales, deliveries. Depending on the season, you move from one activity to another and no two days are alike.
A farm like ours is also a testing ground. Anyone can suggest, try out and change the way we work, and the best ideas rarely come from an office.
The farm will open its doors in 2027 and will recruit, over several years, around ten full-time equivalents.
Here are the positions that will be open from the start.
You take charge of the farm's entire aquaculture loop, around 60 tonnes of fish a year at full capacity, spread across three rearing buildings. The water from your tanks is what then feeds the plants, so you work in constant tandem with vegetable production to coordinate the crops. You supervise one or more aquaponics technicians, also specialised in fish farming.
On every farm, at least three managers must live no more than fifteen minutes from the site: the fish production manager, the farm operations manager and the managing director. If an alarm goes off, even in the middle of the night, someone has to be able to step in immediately to protect the stock.
You run a greenhouse output of around 35 tonnes of produce a year, mainly salads, herbs, tomatoes, strawberries, courgettes, peppers, aubergines and edible flowers. You take part in the harvest and, occasionally, in processing the produce. You plan production together with the fish production manager and the farm operations manager, and you supervise several aquaponics technicians, also specialised in market gardening.
The slaughtering and processing workshop is one of the vital parts of the site. It is what allows us to process our own output and add value to it, and it is where the margin on the products we sell is made. Your job is to work the various batches produced and to define, with management, a range of processed products and the way that production is organised. You work with every team on the farm: the aquaculture team for processing the fish, the market gardening team for the plants.
Aquaponics is a multidisciplinary job, and one of the most varied on the farm. You work on both circuits, the fish side and the plant side, while keeping one you favour depending on your skills, whether you come from aquaculture or from market gardening. The job is still very rare in France, so you will be supervised and trained by the various managers, in fish farming, market gardening and processing, but also in welcoming visitors, shop sales and deliveries to our professional customers.
A farm rising from the ground is a story told live over two years. You are the one telling it. You cover the project on social media, in photos and video: the building site, the thinking behind it, the faces of the farm, the growing techniques and the technology we use. You also feed the website and the blog, keep up relations with the local press, and introduce people to our products and our farm shop. There is a real commercial side to the role. It is not only about telling the story, but also about making our products known and making people want to buy them.
The fundraising round is not over! We are still looking for investors, and potentially for partners who will take part in the project on the ground and not only in the capital, to help us build the farm and grow it.
